Servng in Senegal, West Africa with:-
In Senegal less than 1% of the population are evangelical Christians, so there is a great need to make the gospel known, and to strengthen the very small evangelical church there. So Andrew & Helen's main focus is to get to know those they come in contact with as they live in Dakar, a city of 4m people. Helen works as a doctor in a medical clinic, and Andrew is seeking ways to witness to local guys (perhaps by teaching English) & to to train & disciple local believers.

Andrew trained & worked as a lawyer before doing three years' study at Oak Hill and Helen worked as a GP. Since Senegal is a former French colony they spent 6 months improving their French in Paris, before flying to Senegal in March. They are now learning the local language - Wolof.
Pray for their language learning because without fluency in language they can have little effective ministry.
They spent May doing a homestay with a Senegalese Muslim family, learning lots, making a good friendship with the family & having opportunities to witness.
Pray for ongoing fruitful contact with the family.
Helen has been working 2 days a week in the clinic, working in French with a translator into Wolof, seeing 50-60 patients a day. She has a month's holiday in August because the clinic is closed.
Pray for her as she updates protocols & trains staff.
Pray for an elderly man with terminal cancer to discover the God who saves, & for his Christian neighbours' witness to him & his family.
Give thanks Helen is expecting a baby in November & they have found a flat near her work and a local language helper. Pray for their move on July 29th & their settling in & making good contacts in their neighbourhood.
Andrew has been able to help in the office of Life Challenge Africa writing tracts & preparing seminars for local churches on outreach to their neighbours. Most of the churches in Dakar are made up of African expats, or Senegalese who have been converted from Catholic or traditional backgrounds, so the church needs help to reach the rest of the population. They have settled at Eglise do Freres church which has about 40 - 50 members.
Pray for guidance about the best way for them to serve there.
Give thanks for the good contacts Andrew made with the 15 students at an "English summer camp" in July. Pray for fruit & good follow-up with those who want to know more about God.
Pray for continuing good health, wise understanding of the culture, good relations with colleagues and others working in Dakar, and a close walk with the Lord
