Church weekend 2009

boardsmallOn Friday 6th February over 200 people from our congregation managed to make it to the weekend away despite the snow. That evening we had time to chat over an evening meal and a great time was had getting to know each other. Due to the weather conditions the teaching about Revelation didn’t start until after lunch, so Karl Freeman put on an extra session in the morning.

The teaching sessions gave an interesting and sometimes hard going look at Revelation.bar It was wonderful to have people from all the congregations sharing the teaching together.

The children all had a wonderful time in their groups led by Trinity, they left excited and wondering when the next session would be. The facilities were excellent, with children’s play area, swimming pool, and the beach on the doorstep. The afternoon and evening activities were fun with a surf school for the brave, walks, children’s talent show and an evening quiz.

We all had a wonderful time and came back enthused to learn more, with many people asking “when can we do it again?”.   David Greenstreet

I would certainly agree with this assessment. I'm the sort of person who has to be dragged to these events. But it was such a good time. A fantastic drive down through snow drifts, wild and windy walks along the sea front, meeting and talking to people you have seen around for years but never spent time with. davesurfFantastic talks from Karl that gave me a view of revelation that I had never seen before. And a great bar quiz in the evening, that brought out the intense competetive spirit and sense of fun in all of us. I overheard one of the staff comenting that he had expected a rather sedate pub quiz - I think the event took him by surprise. Then there were those few brave souls who went surfing - and appeared to develop subclinical hypothermia! Dave A's hands were still blue 3 hours later.  Ed.
